1/16

  • This past week we continued reading Hamlet, along with viewing some renditions of the scene containing the ghost.
  • In class we read and discussed much of act two of Hamlet and some of the deeper meanings of some parts of the play.
  • I came to understand the ghost scene more clearly this week, mainly because of the video interpretations that we watched.
  • I have no observations or questions worth noting.

Hamlet Ghost Scene

I prefer the 1996 interpretation of the ghost scene. I enjoyed it more mainly because of the visual interpretation of the murder of old Hamlet. It helped me to further understand the means used to kill him and in turn helped me in understanding the play better.

1/4

  • This week we discussed our finals and we also began reading Hamlet.
  • This week's discussions mainly covered the background on the play Hamlet, though we also discussed the content of our finals.
  • I received insight on the background of Hamlet as well as an understanding of why I missed the questions that I did on the Final.
  • I have no observations or questions that I can think of.

Individual Diction Assignment

  1. Diction is an authors choice of language within a work, including the connotation or denotation of words and the type of language used (ex: simple, scholarly, ect.). Connotation is a readers' interperetation of the meaning of a word that is used, and also sometimes how it may make a reader feel.
  2. I have a fairly clear understanding of diction, and there is not much that remains unclear to me.
